Blog on the Microsoft Office user interface

Jensen Harries from the Microsoft users experience team has started a blog on the Office user interface.

" In this blog, I hope to write a lot about my thoughts about the ins and outs of defining and designing the user experience of Office. I'll be writing frequently about the future of Office but also sometimes the past. And there may be times I find it irresistible to delve into general user interface issues or even (gasp) software issues in general."

Blog on eyetracking research

Greg Edwards had dedicated a blog to eyetracking analysis. He will publish interesting viewing data and rules-of-thumb from measuring what people read, look at, skip, and ignore on web pages.

Elarningpost is a nice digest of daily links to articles and news stories about e-learning and a lot of other subjects related to digital design, such as usability, interaction design, information architecture, and visual design. Besides that, elarningpost features their own articles and reports.

Elarningpost is managed by Maish R. Nichani. Worth a daily visit...

Weblog for Post-PC Interfaces

You might be interested in the weblog that I set up at to discuss post-PC interfaces.

The goal of Nooface is to promote unconventional thinking about truly next-generation user interfaces that are designed for new types of users and computing devices, and go beyond the WIMP (Windows, Icons, Menus, Pointing Device) method that most current interfaces are based on.

Some of the topics discussed include visual user interfaces; web sensing and visualization; information appliance interfaces; user interface innovation; next generation I/O peripherals; search interfaces; alternative web architectures; gesture input; 3D browsers; virtual worlds; game interfaces; wearable computing; data visualization; command-line interfaces; and UI development

Check it out if you're interested!

Survey on how folks keep up with information architecture

ACIA ran a survey in 2001 to learn about which information resources and events information architects use to keep up with field. The research included magazines, journals and newsletters, discussion lists, web sites, books, conferences, meetings, and a rating of which of these resources are considered most useful. Though the survey is more than a year old, there are lots of references to useful stuff.

I have noticed that some of my postings here have made it further afield *blush* - though often without a link back to guuui for some reason :( So I thought I'd point to my own fairly erratic and pretty eclectic web log. I try to maintain a focus on stuff which relates (to a >or< extent) to hyper-related-design. The name is also a sort of signature (or sign). Oh yeah - better give credit where it's due - many of my links come via Matt[IC]
