It's a big mistake that the book Web Style Guide: Basic Design Principles for Creating Web Sites by Partick J. Lynch and Sarah Horton has never been mentioned on GUUUI before now. I have had the book on the shelf since 1999 and have referred to it often. It's out in a 2nd edition from 2002.
The book is about the fundamentals of website design, and places itself somewhere between the how-to-web-design books and the how-to-user-centred-design books.
Despite its modest 176 pages, the book is very comprehensive. It covers topics such as project management, the development process, information architecture, page design, typography, editorial style, and the use of graphics and multimedia.
It's available both at the book store and online.
